
This article presents some reflections shared at the first International Meeting of Classical Dance Accompanying Pianists (2021), that revolve around the experience and significance of the discipline of piano accompaniment for dance in the PCAD Dance Art Curriculum Project of the Francisco José de Caldas District University. These reflections result from a collective learning process interwoven in dialogue and experiences with music and dance teachers and students and have the purpose of showing the academic community the difficulties, challenges, and successes that the work of the accompanying pianists of the Project, as well as drawing attention to the need to strengthen piano training in the performance of this discipline since a fascinating professional field is beginning to be consolidated for the country's pianists. The reflections and experiences are collected in autoethnographic stories that narrate some experiences, thoughts, anecdotes, questions, challenges, and achievements from the perspective of two accompanying pianists. Finally, in the conclusions, several approaches and proposals are pointed out as a result of the reflective exercise.
