The project aims to investigate different research creation processes within contemporary dance, in the current Bogota dance scene, recognizing their methodologies, as well as the particular and transversal elements that cross over between them and their relationships to the contexts in which they take place. The article proposes a historical review of narrative research, starting from the so-called narrative turn, to then focus on its conceptual, methodological and political implications, and finally to expose its relevance in the field of artistic research. THEY, Y THREE CREATIVE ACTS. http://ritaportal.udistrital.edu.co:10439/index.php/variaciones/article/view/9 <p>This article aims to the worth of Performing Arts in a women-exclusive school environment. Hence, three performing experiences will offer the opportunity to review their meaningful learning experiences and the imprints in the girls’ bodies. The methodology emerged from an arts research- creation approach and the need to connect the three main components of the performing arts tothree different moments in the girls’ stages of development, both physical and symbolic. The results show that 1. The girls moved on stage with confidence and precision and that their work was meaningful to them when others saw it; 2. they organized themselves in space in different ways, relating their roles to those of others; 3. they believed in themselves, their peers, and the process; 4. they connected information and came up with non-ordinary proposals, and allowed themselves to create meaningful understandings as a group. The discussion referred to mentioned achievements, highlighting emotions, ideas, and experiences touching one's narrative, that can cause visible transformations in the body. In conclusion, all performances were whole when the personal, technical, and creative process was related to an external and meaningful reference. These reflections result from a collective learning process interwoven in dialogue and experiences with music and dance teachers and students and have the purpose of showing the academic community the difficulties, challenges, and successes that the work of the accompanying pianists of the Project, as well as drawing attention to the need to strengthen piano training in the performance of this discipline since a fascinating professional field is beginning to be consolidated for the country's pianists. The reflections and experiences are collected in autoethnographic stories that narrate some experiences, thoughts, anecdotes, questions, challenges, and achievements from the perspective of two accompanying pianists. Gaitán Castañeda Copyright (c) 2023 http://ritaportal.udistrital.edu.co:10439/index.php/variaciones/article/view/10 Sat, 15 Apr 2023 00:00:00 +0000 DANCE AS A STRATEGY TO AGENCY FOR MENTAL HEALTH http://ritaportal.udistrital.edu.co:10439/index.php/variaciones/article/view/11 <p>This exploratory study aims at identifying the benefits of dancing in the perception of the sense of agency for mental health in order to propose possible agency indicators referring to the capacity for self-management in individuals regarding their mental health. A review of initially 79 articles that address the use of dance in therapeutic context and other interventions oriented to bodily movement for treating mental health conditions and problems was made; in the end, 22 articles were included. From the review and the analysis carried out, a proposal of a model that allows for the definition of two indicators of the sense of agency was made. Those indicators are the perceived personal control and the perceived auto-efficacy. These indicators correspond to the reflexive and pre-reflexive levels of cognition recognized by the embodiment approach.
